I am a lover of people, places, music, and the beauty of this earth and the outer space. I'm interested in thinking things out; I'm interested in good lyrics; and writing good lyrics. I weep over a new melody that reaches into my soul; I love to be deeply moved, but it cannot be forced. I won't allow it. Expertise: I'll get the music right, but please don't ask me to remember the words.
I'll always have a listening ear, especially to that which is genuine.

| ONE WEEK TO BIRMINGHAM!!!
Jen and I have one week until we move to the capitol of the deep south. I can't believe it. The summer has come and gone so quickly, and now we just need to begin packing. Kinda feels like the end of Spring semester, time to put the dorm in a box. Well, there is so much to do, and yet, two weeks from now, we'll have already been living in our new place for a week...I wonder who our first visitors will be.
Maybe it will be you!
Seriously, our new place is fairly spacious, and we would love it if you want to come and crash for a night, two...whatever. Let us know. It has been fun living so close to the airport here in Nashville because friends have left their cars with us and we've been a taxi service. Sunday night, Barton Stone stayed with us before he flew off to the Mile High city. What a lucky guy, not because he stayed with us, but because he is currently under a canopy of the bluest blue until December. Jelousy has overcome my soul!
I'm still working/thinking/writing new things. If you've not stopped by my myspace lately, there's a couple new songs up. I'm pretending to be working on an album right now, I'll let you know more details soon.
Jen and I just finished reading Treasure Island. It was quite an adventure, though I'd read it many times, Jen had not, so she was in suspense ever since we started reading it!!! It is a marvelous book. Stevenson's writing is very enjoyable. We read it after watching Pirates: Dead Man's Chest. If you've not read it I highly suggest it. Its definately a page turner!
Love to you all. I'll keep you updated as we move! | | |
| If you are not listening to "Under the Iron Sea" (the new record from Keane) you should be. I've been listening to it for the last four days and have been enjoying the shear beauty, new sounds, and wandering melodies. Please check it out if you get the chance.
Hope you all are doing well. I've just finished my third? week at Walgreens where I'll remain until terminated or we move to Birmingham, whichever comes first. I've been working on new material, but nothing is recorded yet. I'm re-working "Edge of the world" which should be up soon, the new version. I'll let you all know.
Much love. Talk to you soon.

| PLEAESE GO TO
www.myspace.com/theschottsy
and LISTEN to MY LATEST SONG:
"EDGE OF THE WORLD"
Its not a perfect recording, but its the bones of the song. Jen's and my new Mac G4 has revolutionized my life. Maybe a couple of years behind, but hey, we've got it now, and I finished this up today on Garage Band. (Some fast, easy-to-use recording software...its as easy as hitting "play/record" on the old tape player. Love it. For real.)
Please, everyone, go to www.myspace.com/theschottsy and listen. Even if you don't have an account you can still go there and listen to the song. It should come up as soon as you're on the page.
Thanks very much. Just wanna get the word (the music) out there. I can't thank you enough for listening.
Much love, Schottsy
P.S. You will find the lyrics to the song on my previous entry (see below for scriblings...go to www.myspace.com/theschottsy for the tune!!!)

| Here's a new folksy song to go along with my "acoustic set" and hey, its the first song I've completed on my new guitar, capo VI, and it sounds beautiful.
I would love a critique...please, constructive negetivity is not a bad thing, for real, or just frank negetivity...or, just enjoy:
"Sitting on the Edge of the World"
I climbed a mountain just to touch the sky Heard your song and it made me cry I never wanted to say "goodbye" to you
If you were sorry you didn't let it show Feel like a face that nobody else can know Still, there are places I want to go
From way up here everything looks clearer I'm sitting on the edge of the world I can reach the silent sea From out here on the edge of the world You look lost But I know that I'm not Cause I'm out there-up here- Sitting on the edge of the world
You crossed a bridge just to watch it burn You're stranded--a little trick that you've learned To put yourself in places where you get served
From way up here everything looks clearer I'm sitting on the edge of the world I can reach the silent sea From out here on the edge of the world But from up hear you look lost And I know that I'm not Cause I'm out there-up here- Sitting on the edge of the world.
